It’s Always Darkest Before The Dawn

If you have had access to the internet in the past few days and checked out any of the big 40k blogs you will have noticed that it is the END OF DAYS.  From various articles and comments it can be summarized that Jervis Johnson is about to kick in all our doors, steal our wallets, and give us a new rule book that is one page of rules that reads “Do Whatever You Assholes Want”.  It will also have 599 pages of fluff and pictures that completely change the established fluff.

…Or maybe the internet is over reacting.  There are lots of scary ideas in the future.  That doesn’t mean that the new edition will be bad.  It doesn’t mean the end to 40k.  It just means that we will change how we play the game, again.  Most of us have done that at least once.

I have said it before and I will say it again, the game has to change and evolve to keep us interested.  There will be new ways to play the game with this edition.  It may be better or it may be worse than our current edition.  Time will tell.  The good news is that it will not be permanent.

I ask all of you to keep an open mind and give the new edition a try.  I can assure you that crazier stuff has happened in the life of 40k than this.  It has survived and even thrived through the years.  It will survive this.

If you can’t accept a new edition, think it’s broken, or whatever; don’t buy it and play it.  If you think it is a money grab by GW, sorry to tell you that GW is a business.  They are in it to make money.  If you are not okay with this; don’t buy it.

If you don’t want to play 40k or the new addition though, I ask you one thing internet.  Don’t ruin it for the rest of us.  We play this game to relax and have fun.  The last thing anyone wants is someone else telling them why their hobby is bad.  Remember guys, it’s just a game we play to have fun.

  1. I am actually looking forward to this new edition. It sounds like it pcould be a LOT of fun for the casual player. Which, as much as I like to win, I consider myself a casual player. It looks like it will allow some really fluffy armies as well as some nasty combos to face. However, until the 1st of June any reaction will be either premature, or knee jerk reaction. I say the first to give us time to read and actually digest what is written.
